A flight attendant, a podcaster, and a woman on a mission to show you the wealth-building blueprint nobody taught us.
Let me paint you a picture. The alarm goes off before most of the world is even dreaming. You slip on your uniform, roll your luggage to the door, and head to the airport — not as a passenger, but as the one responsible for making sure hundreds of people are safe, comfortable, and cared for from gate to gate. That is my reality. I am a flight attendant. And for a long time, I believed that a career in aviation — one that takes you across time zones, fills your passport, and offers benefits most people only dream about — was more than enough to secure my financial future.
I was wrong. Not because this career does not have real value. It does. But because one stream of income, no matter how stable it looks on the surface, is never truly enough. Life has a way of reminding us of that at the most inconvenient times — a global pandemic that grounds entire fleets, a medical leave that sidelines you without warning, a furlough that arrives without mercy. I learned this lesson deeply, and it changed everything about how I think about money, security, and freedom.
That is why I built Sherley’s Show. That is why I became a podcaster alongside being a flight attendant. And that is why I am writing this for you today — because if there is one thing I want every woman reading this to walk away with, it is the undeniable truth that your primary income is not a financial plan. It is a starting point.

Here is what nobody tells you when you land a great job: a steady paycheck can still leave you financially vulnerable if it is your only source of income. The paycheck-to-paycheck cycle does not discriminate based on profession or pay grade. It traps doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers, and yes — even flight attendants. The trap is not always about how little you make. Often, it is about having all of your financial eggs in one basket.
When I started having real, honest conversations about money — first with myself, and then with the community I was building through Sherley’s Show — I realized how many women were experiencing this exact thing. Accomplished, educated, hardworking women who felt the quiet anxiety of knowing that one unexpected event could unravel everything they had built. A car repair. A health emergency. A job loss. These things do not ask for permission before they show up.
The antidote to that anxiety is not simply making more money at your current job. It is diversifying where your money comes from. It is building streams of income that do not stop flowing just because your primary source hits a rough patch. Multiple streams of income are not a luxury for the ultra-wealthy — they are a survival strategy and a wealth-building blueprint that anyone, in any profession, can begin to implement.
Sherley’s Show was born in 2012 from a deeply personal place. I had been through my own storms — moments of crisis that made me feel utterly alone, only to discover that so many other women were quietly navigating the same waters. I created the podcast as a safe space, a community where women could come to be uplifted, empowered, and reminded that they are never alone in their journey.
The conversations we have on Sherley’s Show cover everything from infidelity and forgiveness to self-love, therapy, trust, heartbreak, and rebuilding. These are the real, raw, unfiltered conversations that women are having in their living rooms, in their cars during their commutes, in their heads at two in the morning — and I made it my mission to bring those conversations into the light so that every woman listening could feel seen, heard, and guided.
What I did not fully anticipate was that Sherley’s Show would evolve into something that also empowered me financially. The podcast became my second stream of income — a royalty and brand-based revenue source that continues to grow while I am in the air serving passengers at 35,000 feet. That is the beauty of building something that works even when you are not actively working it. My voice, my community, my content — these things are generating value around the clock, independent of my flight schedule.
This is not me bragging. This is me showing you what is possible. Because if a full-time flight attendant with a demanding, unpredictable schedule and a life full of responsibilities can build a thriving podcast community and a second income stream, so can you. The question is not whether you have the time. The question is whether you are willing to invest the time now for the freedom it will create later.
Wealthy people do not typically rely on just one income source. Financial experts and self-made millionaires consistently point to seven primary streams of income that the wealthy leverage to build and sustain their financial lives. Understanding these streams is the first step to building your own roadmap. Let me walk you through each one — and show you how they connect to real life, including mine.
1. Earned Income
This is your salary or hourly wage — the money you earn in exchange for your time and labor. For me, this is my flight attendant income. For you, it might be your nine-to-five, your nursing shifts, your teaching salary, or your corporate paycheck. Earned income is where most of us begin, and there is nothing wrong with it. But it is important to understand its limitation: it only flows when you are actively working. The moment you stop, so does the money.
2. Profit Income
Profit income belongs to entrepreneurs and business owners — the revenue that comes from running a business above and beyond its expenses. Think about what you know, what you are skilled at, and what problem you could solve for others. The podcast coaching I offer through Sherley’s Show is an extension of this. I have turned my experience in podcasting into a service that helps other women launch their own shows, which has opened up a profitable and fulfilling income stream tied directly to my expertise.
3. Interest Income
This is the interest you earn from money sitting in savings accounts, certificates of deposit, or high-yield accounts. It is not going to make you rich overnight, but it is passive, and every dollar of passive income matters when you are building financial security. If you are not already actively contributing to a savings account, this is your reminder to start. Even small, consistent deposits compound over time into something meaningful.
4. Rental Income
Rental income comes from owning property and leasing it to others — whether that is a long-term rental, a short-term Airbnb listing, or even renting out a room in your own home. Real estate has long been one of the most reliable wealth-building vehicles available, and platforms like Airbnb have made it more accessible than ever. You do not have to be a real estate mogul to benefit from rental income. You just need to start thinking about property as a potential asset rather than simply a place to live.
5. Dividend Income
Dividend income comes from investments in the stock market and real estate investment trusts. When companies profit, they sometimes share a portion of that profit with shareholders in the form of dividends. If your employer offers stock options, that is an excellent and accessible entry point into this stream of income. There are also user-friendly apps and platforms designed to make investing more accessible for beginners, allowing you to start building a portfolio even with small amounts of money.
6. Capital Income
Capital income is about buying low and selling high — flipping. This could be real estate, vintage items, collectibles, or even reselling products. The principle is simple: acquire something of value at a lower price and sell it at a higher one. This stream requires some market knowledge and an eye for opportunity, but it can be extraordinarily lucrative for those willing to learn the landscape.
7. Royalty Income
This is where Sherley’s Show lives in the income stream conversation. Royalty income is earned when others use your intellectual property — your content, your brand, your creative work. Podcasters, authors, musicians, photographers, and inventors all have the potential to earn royalty income. Every episode of Sherley’s Show that someone downloads, every sponsorship tied to my content, every resource I create for my audience — these generate income that flows from something I built once and that continues to pay me over time. This is the stream I am most passionate about, because it is tied directly to purpose. I am not just making money. I am making an impact.
I want to be transparent with you about what this life actually looks like, because I think too many people see the highlight reel and assume that building multiple streams of income is effortless or immediate. It is neither. It took years of showing up consistently for Sherley’s Show before it became a meaningful income stream. There were episodes recorded in hotel rooms during layovers. There were late nights editing content after back-to-back flights. There were moments of doubt where I wondered whether anyone was actually listening.
But here is what kept me going: I knew that every episode I recorded, every conversation I hosted, every woman I reached was building something that would outlast any single flight schedule or airline contract. My podcast was becoming an asset — something that belonged to me, that could not be furloughed, that did not require me to be physically present to generate value. And that realization was worth every sacrificed hour of sleep.
Today, Sherley’s Show is a full community. Women from all walks of life tune in to hear honest conversations about relationships, self-love, and personal growth. I have had the privilege of coaching women who want to launch their own podcasts, turning my passion and experience into a mentorship offering that generates profit income alongside my royalty income from the show itself. Paired with my flight attendant income — my earned income — I have built a foundation that gives me a level of financial security and freedom that one paycheck alone never could.
I share this not to position myself as someone who has arrived, but as proof that the blueprint works. You do not have to choose between your career and your calling. You can have both. And in having both, you can build a financial life that does not keep you up at night wondering what happens if your primary income disappears tomorrow.
I want to speak directly to you — the woman who is excellent at her job but quietly exhausted by the feeling that there is never quite enough. The woman who knows she has more to offer the world than what her job description allows. The woman who has a gift, a story, a voice, a skill that she has been sitting on because she does not know where to start or does not believe the timing is right.
The timing will never be perfect. There will always be a reason to wait — one more month, one more paycheck, one more degree, one more sign. But financial freedom does not come to those who wait for the perfect moment. It comes to those who begin, imperfectly and boldly, and who keep building even when the results are not immediately visible.
One of the most powerful things you can do this year is take one weekend — just one — to sit down and map out what your financial life could look like with three to five streams of income. Not to have them all built by Monday, but to begin seeing the possibility and creating the plan. What do you already know how to do that someone else would pay for? What do you own that could be generating income? What are you passionate about that could be monetized over time? These are not rhetorical questions. They are the beginning of your blueprint.
Our children are watching us too. So many of us were never taught the language of multiple income streams, investing, or wealth building. We were taught to get a good job and hold on to it. And while there is value in stability, there is a much richer conversation to be had — one that includes teaching the next generation that a job is a starting point, not a destination. By building your own multiple streams of income, you are not just changing your financial story. You are rewriting the one your children will inherit.
Your primary income — no matter how good it is — is not financial security on its own. Security comes from diversification, from building streams of income that flow independently of one another so that no single disruption can derail your financial life.
The seven income streams of the wealthy — Earned, Profit, Interest, Rental, Dividend, Capital, and Royalty — are not reserved for the ultra-rich. They are available to anyone willing to learn, plan, and take intentional action. Aiming to build three to five of these streams creates a financial foundation that can genuinely change the trajectory of your life.
Purpose-driven income is possible. Sherley’s Show started as a safe space for women and grew into a business, a brand, and a stream of royalty and profit income that works even when I am in the air. Your passion, your story, and your expertise are assets. Use them.
Building multiple income streams is not an overnight process — it is a commitment to your future self. The work you put in today to set up additional income sources will pay dividends for years to come. Start with one. Get it flowing. Then build the next.
You are never alone in this journey. A community, a mentor, a podcast that speaks directly to where you are — these resources matter. Surround yourself with voices and spaces that believe in your potential and push you toward it.
