Many women are uncomfortable talking about vaginal health. However, keeping quiet doesn’t really solve the ‘problem.’ Did you know that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that almost 75 percent of adult women have at least one genital/ vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) or “yeast infection” in their lifetime? That’s quite high a percentage, which only means that we as women have to be more careful about our health down there.
In the past, I have written a blog post on how to take care of vaginal health and the primary causes of those uncomfortable itching sensations. So, I am not going into all those details here. Today, I want to talk to you about a product that my OB-GYN prescribed me for fighting this issue— Luvena Prebiotic, a vaginal moisturizer and lubricant.
Most of us here know about probiotics, right? Those live bacteria and yeast that do a world of good to our digestive system? Now, what on earth are prebiotics? Er, maybe a spelling error, eh? LOL. Although I too am guilty of thinking along those lines, it turns out that prebiotics has their own legit existence. They help in maintaining the good bacteria, which in turn help in keeping an optimum acidic level in the vagina.
One of the first steps to maintaining vaginal health is to ensure that its pH level is within the range of 3.5 to 4.5. According to the Luvena website, the product contains cranberry extract and does not have any preservative. Its natural restorative prebiotic offers anti-bacterial enzymes and anti-yeast proteins that take care of your vaginal health. It is especially useful if your problem results from a moisture imbalance. Many things can throw the pH level of your vagina off balance and the useful ingredients in Luvena help to restore this balance. What’s more, it is odor-free and very easy to use.
Although the Luvena website says that any woman can use this product, I strongly suggest that you talk to your OB-GYN before you start using it. It is just safe that way. I trust Luvena since it was prescribed to me by my doctor. Plus, I am super-happy with it. Do you have similar vaginal infection issues? Do you use any product? Let me know.
