Who This Platform Is Really For (And Who I’m Not Talking To)

Sherley’s Show is a platform for community, guidance, and education rooted in lived experience, not a substitute for licensed mental health therapy. This content is intended for educational and entertainment purposes only. If you are navigating a mental health crisis, please reach out to a licensed professional or contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

Hey, sis. It’s me, Sherley.

I want to have a conversation with you today that I’ve been putting off for a while, honestly, because it required me to get specific. And getting specific is scary when you’ve built something for a lot of people. You start to worry that if you name exactly who you’re talking to, you’ll leave someone out. You’ll hurt feelings. You’ll shrink your audience.

But here’s what I’ve learned running this platform for years now. If you’re talking to everybody, you’re not talking to anybody. So today I’m getting specific. I’m telling you exactly who Sherley’s Show is for, exactly who I’m thinking about when I write a blog post or sit down at the mic, and exactly why.

If you’ve been wondering whether you belong here, this post is going to answer that question honestly. No fluff, no vague “everyone is welcome” language that doesn’t actually tell you anything. Just the truth about who I built this for.

Why I Built a Platform in the First Place

Let’s start here, because you can’t understand who this is for without understanding why it exists.

I didn’t wake up one day and decide to build a media brand because it sounded fun. I built Sherley’s Show because I went through infidelity in my own marriage, and when I went looking for somewhere to land, somewhere that felt honest and mature and judgment free, I couldn’t find it. Everything I found was either too clinical, too preachy, or too focused on telling me what to do instead of just sitting with me in it.

I wanted a community of women who were going through the same thing I was going through. Not a comment section full of strangers yelling “leave him” without knowing a single detail of my life. Not a self help account posting a quote graphic and calling it a day. An actual space where mature women could talk about infidelity, forgiveness, staying, leaving, and everything in between, without someone standing over them with a checklist of what they’re supposed to feel.

That space didn’t exist for me. So I built it.

Honestly, it pissed me off a little that I had to. I remember thinking, there’s no way I’m the only woman on earth who needs this and can’t find it. There’s no way. So instead of staying frustrated about a gap in the market, I decided to become the woman who fills it.

Key Takeaway: Sherley’s Show was born because a space for honest, judgment free conversations about infidelity did not exist. So Sherley built it herself, out of her own experience, not out of a business plan.

Who I’m Really Talking To

Here’s the part I’ve danced around for a while, and I’m done dancing around it.

My platform is primarily for two women, and if you’re one of them, I want you to feel it in your chest when you read this.

The first woman is the one who has been cheated on. Doesn’t matter if it happened once or if it’s been happening for years. Doesn’t matter if you found out through a text message, a gut feeling, or someone else telling you. You are the woman I built this for. I talk to you about the anger, the numbness, the questions that won’t leave you alone at three in the morning, and the decision in front of you about whether you stay or whether you go.

The second woman is the one on the other side of that story. The side chick. And I need you to hear me clearly here, because this is where a lot of platforms go quiet or go judgmental, and I refuse to do either. If you are currently in a relationship with someone who is not fully yours, someone who has a wife, a girlfriend, a family, someone you know deep down you probably shouldn’t be building a life around, I am talking to you too. If you’ve been the side chick before, whether you knew it at the time or found out later that you were never told the whole truth, I am talking to you.

Both of you are welcome here. Both of you get a seat at this table. Neither of you gets judged.

I want to say that again because it matters. Regardless of what side of the story you’re on, this is a no judgment zone. I’m not here to hand out gold stars to the “wronged woman” and shame to the “other woman.” Real life is messier than that. Some women didn’t know. Some women knew and stayed anyway for reasons that made sense to them at the time. Some women were lied to by the same man in two different houses. I’m not in the business of ranking pain or deciding who deserves compassion and who doesn’t. I’m in the business of talking to grown women honestly about a situation a lot of people would rather whisper about.

Key Takeaway: This platform is primarily for two women: the one who was cheated on, and the one who was, or is, the side chick. Both get a seat at the table. Neither gets judged.

Why I’m Not Talking to Everybody

I do cover other topics on this platform. I’ve written about forgiveness, trust, communication, dating, marriage, sex, and a dozen other things that fall under the relationship umbrella. Those conversations matter and they’re not going anywhere.

But if I’m honest with you, and I told myself I would be honest in this post, infidelity is my primary lane. It’s the thing that built this platform, it’s the thing I have the most lived experience with, and it’s the thing I feel called to keep going back to. Every other topic I touch is connected to that core in some way, even when it doesn’t look like it on the surface.

So when you land on my website and you see me mention infidelity again, and again, and again, that’s not an accident and it’s not me running out of ideas. That’s me being consistent about who I’m here for. I’d rather have a smaller audience that feels deeply understood than a massive audience that feels like I’m speaking in generalities that don’t actually land anywhere.

I could talk about a hundred different relationship topics if I wanted to chase a bigger audience. But that’s not why I got into this. I got into this because I lived through something specific, and I know there are women out there living through that same specific thing right now, feeling like nobody around them gets it. Speaking directly to you means I have to accept that some people scroll past. That’s fine. I’m not writing for the scroll past crowd. I’m writing for you.

That said, I want to be honest about something else too. You don’t have to be neck deep in an active affair, on either side of it, to belong here. If you’re a woman who is just struggling in your relationship right now, feeling stuck, feeling unseen, wondering if the thing you’re building with someone is actually solid, you are welcome to sit in on these conversations too. You don’t need a permission slip shaped exactly like betrayal to get something out of what I share. I just want you to know, going in, who I’m primarily speaking to, so nothing here ever feels like it’s talking down to you or past you.

What This Space Actually Offers Right Now

I get asked a lot of questions about what’s actually available here, so let me lay it out plainly, no confusion.

Right now, the heart of this community lives in three places. The podcast, where you’ll hear my own story along with the Real Talk Series conversations between me and my husband, and interviews with other women and experts who’ve lived through their own versions of this. The blog, where I break things down in writing when you need something to sit with, reread, and come back to later. And the newsletter, where I show up in your inbox a little more personally than I do anywhere else, because email still feels like the closest thing to a real conversation between two women.

I also want to tell you about something I’m adding that I think is going to matter a lot to some of you. You can now submit your situation to me anonymously. If you’re in the middle of something and you don’t have anyone you can talk to about it, or you’re not ready to say it out loud to anyone in your real life, you can write it out and send it to me. I’ll read it, and I’ll respond with my honest perspective, either directly to you or, with your permission and always with your identity protected, as part of a blog post or episode that could help someone else going through the exact same thing.

An Important Note: I am not a therapist. I don’t have a clinical license, and I’m not diagnosing you or treating you for anything. What I am is a woman who has lived through infidelity, who has talked to hundreds of other women about theirs, and who has built a way of thinking about these situations that I call my own. When you submit your story, you’re getting my honest, human perspective, a storyteller’s perspective, not clinical advice. If what you’re carrying feels like more than a conversation can hold, please talk to a licensed therapist or counselor. Sitting with a professional and talking to me are not competing things. You can do both.

For now, that’s the shape of this community. The podcast, the blog, the newsletter, and a place to tell me your situation without your name attached to it. I know some of you have been asking about a Facebook group or something more interactive, and here’s my honest answer. I tried that before, and I learned that a group that size needs real moderation to stay safe and stay useful, and I’m not going to half do that to you. Somewhere down the road, as this grows, I’m considering building something more live, maybe a call every couple of months where a small group of us get on Zoom and actually talk through a topic together, with the option to stay anonymous if you want to be there without being seen. That’s a “someday” though, not a “right now.” Right now, I’d rather give you my full attention in the lanes I already have than spread myself thin trying to run a group I can’t properly hold.

If You’re Wondering Whether You Belong Here

Let me make this simple.

If you’ve been cheated on and you’re trying to figure out what happens next, you belong here.

If you were, or are, the other woman, and you’re tired, confused, or ready to make a change, you belong here.

If neither of those is exactly your story, but you’re a woman who is struggling in her relationship and looking for something honest instead of another quote graphic, you’re welcome to stay too.

What you won’t find here is judgment dressed up as advice. What you won’t find is someone pretending relationships are simple or that there’s one right answer for every woman in every situation. What you will find is a woman who’s been in it, who built a platform because the space she needed didn’t exist yet, and who is still, years later, showing up for the exact women she set out to show up for.

I built this because I needed it and it wasn’t there. Now it’s here. And however you found your way to this page, I’m glad you did.
