Application-Only: Why FastTrack Isn’t for Everyone

You cannot buy a seat in FastTrack. You can only apply for one. That surprises people the first time they land on the page ready to enroll and discover there is no “add to cart” button — just an application. I want to walk through why that’s true, because it isn’t there to create friction for the sake of it. It’s there because a credit card number tells me nothing about whether this program is actually going to work for you.

I know an application step can feel like a strange thing to encounter on a page that’s otherwise selling you something. Most of us are used to the opposite experience online — the fewer clicks between “interested” and “paid,” the better the business is supposedly doing. FastTrack runs on a different logic, and I think that logic is worth explaining plainly instead of just asking you to trust it.

What a Payment Can’t Tell Me

Most online programs are built to remove every possible barrier between a visitor and a sale. Frictionless checkout is the entire industry standard, and for a lot of products, that’s exactly right — a course, a template, an eBook doesn’t need to know anything about the person buying it to deliver value. FastTrack is not that kind of product. It is ninety days of direct coaching, a live intensive, a private 1:1 strategy session, and a small group who will spend three months building alongside each other. That kind of program lives or dies on fit, and a payment screen cannot tell me anything about fit.

A payment tells me someone has a credit card and a moment of motivation. It doesn’t tell me whether she has the bandwidth to show up for a 4-hour Zoom intensive, whether her expertise is developed enough to build a show around, whether she’s applying because she’s genuinely ready or because a sale ends at midnight. The application is how I find that out before either of us commits ninety days to something that might not be the right fit.

There’s also a version of this where I imagine what happens on the other side of a frictionless checkout. A woman impulse-buys a seat during a moment of excitement, then finds herself three weeks later staring down a 4-hour Live Intensive she didn’t fully understand she’d committed to, in a season of life that genuinely didn’t have room for it. That’s not a hypothetical — it’s the exact outcome a fit-first application process is built to prevent, for her sake as much as the cohort’s.

What the Application Is Actually Screening For

It isn’t a test of worthiness, and it isn’t designed to make you prove yourself to me. It’s designed to answer a small number of practical questions honestly, on both sides. Do you have expertise or lived experience you could genuinely build a show around? Do you have the time each week that the 90-day structure actually requires? Are you looking for a podcast specifically, or would a different platform — social media, speaking, coaching — actually serve your goals better?

That last question matters more than people expect. I regularly have women apply who are brilliant, driven, and completely ready to build something — but a podcast isn’t the right platform for what they’re trying to do. Sending someone through a 90-day podcast accelerator when their actual goals point toward speaking or social media isn’t a win for anyone, including me. The application is where that gets caught early, before ninety days and real money are on the line.

None of these questions are trick questions, and there’s no version of the application designed to trip someone up. Most of what I’m reading for is simply clarity and honesty — a woman who can articulate what she does and why it matters is usually a woman who’s ready to build a show around it. Vagueness in an application is rarely a character flaw; more often it just means the idea needs more time to develop before FastTrack is the right next step, and that’s useful information for both of us to have upfront.

Why This Protects You As Much As It Protects the Program

It would be easy to frame this entirely as protecting the cohort experience for the fifteen women who get in. That’s true, but it’s only half of it. The application also protects the individual applicant from spending significant money and three months of her life on a program that isn’t actually built for where she is right now.

I have talked women out of applying before — not because they weren’t capable, but because it was clear in the conversation that what they needed was a 1:1 Clarity Consultation first, to figure out which platform actually fit their goals, rather than a 90-day commitment to a platform they hadn’t fully decided on yet. That conversation is uncomfortable to have on a sales call. It is a lot easier to have honestly through an application process that isn’t designed to convert at all costs.

I think about this the same way I’d want someone to think about it if the roles were reversed. If I were the one applying to a program, I would want the person on the other side to tell me honestly if it wasn’t the right fit yet, rather than take my payment and let me find that out for myself in week four. The application is my way of extending that same honesty before either of us has anything on the line.

Who This Is Genuinely Built For

FastTrack is built for the career woman who already knows her field — a nurse, a corporate executive, a flight attendant, a business owner, a beauty professional, any professional with expertise worth sharing — and who has moved past the “should I” stage into the “how do I actually do this” stage. She doesn’t need convincing that a podcast could work. She needs structure, accountability, and expert guidance to get it done inside a specific window of time rather than an open-ended someday.

She’s also someone who can realistically show up. Ninety days of real coaching requires real weeks — time for the Live Intensive, time for recording, time to work through the Authority and Launch Workbook between sessions. A woman in the middle of a genuine life crisis, an overwhelming work season, or a schedule with no real margin is not someone I want to enroll into a program she won’t be able to show up for, no matter how ready she otherwise feels.

A lot of the women who end up being the best fit for FastTrack share one more trait that doesn’t show up on a checklist: they’ve already tried to do at least some version of this alone before applying. Maybe she recorded three episodes and never published them. Maybe she’s been outlining a show in a notes app for a year. That prior effort tells me something an application question never fully can — that the desire isn’t new or untested, and what’s actually missing is structure and accountability, not motivation.

Who This Isn’t Built For — At Least, Not Yet

If you’re still deciding whether a podcast is even the right platform for your expertise, FastTrack is the wrong first step. That decision deserves its own dedicated conversation, not a decision made under the pressure of an application deadline. There’s no ranking of value between those paths — they simply serve different needs, and being honest about which one you actually need saves you time and money either way.

And if right now genuinely isn’t the season — if your schedule, your energy, or your life circumstances don’t leave room for a 90-day commitment — the waitlist will still be there. FastTrack runs three cohorts a year. There will be another one.

None of these situations are permanent disqualifications. A woman who isn’t ready for FastTrack in February might be exactly ready by June. Platforms shift, seasons of life shift, clarity develops. The application isn’t a one-time verdict on whether you’re “podcast material” — it’s a snapshot of fit at a specific moment, and that moment is allowed to change.

The Honest Trade of Application-Only

I won’t pretend the application process doesn’t cost me anything either. Some women who would have simply paid and shown up ready get slowed down by having to apply first, and a small number probably decide it’s not worth the extra step and walk away. That’s a real cost, and I’ve made my peace with it, because the alternative — filling every seat with whoever pays first, fit or no fit — produces a worse cohort experience for everyone in the room, including the women who were genuinely ready.

There’s also a slower, less measurable cost: applications take real time to review thoughtfully, which means the process isn’t instant. Some women want an answer the same day they apply, and I understand that impulse completely — but a rushed review defeats the entire purpose of having an application in the first place. Taking the time to actually read what someone wrote is the whole point.

An application-only structure is a statement about what I’m optimizing for. Not speed. Not the largest possible number of enrollments per launch. Fit, readiness, and a cohort that can genuinely support each other through ninety days of real work. If that’s what you’re looking for too, the application is a short, honest step — not a hurdle designed to keep you out.
